Maybank (Malayan Banking Berhad) is a financial group and network of banks in Malaysia, with significant banking operations in Singapore, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
The bank is also active in Islamic banking market through its Islamic Banking division and insurance through its subsidiary Etiqa.
The company is the largest financial institution in Malaysia with over 374 domestic and 90 overseas branches and offices. It is listed on Bursa Malaysia with a market capitalization of over RM30 billion (2009).
In 2008, Maybank completed the acquisition of 15% in An Binh Bank (Vietnam) and 20% of MCB Bank Ltd (Pakistan). In Indonesia, it has started operations in 2000 through PT Bank BNI Tbk (Bank Negara Indonesia), which is the fifth major bank in Indonesia by assets.
The bank operates in consumer, business and corporate banking and private banking markets through a network of more than 374 branches and more than 2,700 ATMs in Malaysia.
In addition to commercial banking, the company provides insurance, investment banking, and asset management services.
A list of subsidiaries also includes Etiqa Insurance & Takaful which provides both conventional and Shariah-based products and services, and investment bank, that offers investment solutions.
